He has been remanded into custody and will be appear for a bail hearing on April 30.

The shooting was the first in a string of attacks against Canadian waste giant GFL Environmental Inc. and its sister construction company, Green Infrastructure Partners (GIP) that occurred over a series of months last year.

A month after the Vaughan shooting, there were two more incidents: Six dump trucks were set on fire at the same GIP lot and then, shortly after, GIP construction equipment was set ablaze at a site adjacent to the highway.

Then in late September, a gunman fired on the Rosedale home of Patrick Dovigi, GFL’s founder. An hour later, the front door of former GFL senior vice-president Ted Manziaris, who still consults for GIP, was shot at nine times. Later that fall, someone shot out the glass entrance to a GFL office in the north end of Toronto.
